2013年冬季 NTV深夜剧 人気グループ「SMAP」の稲垣吾郎さんが、来年1月期放送の深夜ドラマ「in the Room（仮）」（日本テレビ）で、08年1月クールに放送された日曜劇場「佐々木夫妻の仁義なき戦い」（TBS系）以来、約5年ぶりに連続ドラマの主演を務めることが明らかになった。深夜ドラマ初主演にもなる稲垣さんは「深夜の時間帯は、本当に面白い挑戦的なものをやられていることが多くて、僕自身も好きな番組もあるので、その時間帯の顔になれれば」と意欲をみせている。 ドラマは、稲垣さん演じる精神分析医の天間了が、スクールカウンセラーを務める学園を舞台に、カウンセリングルームを訪れる生徒や教師のさまざまな悩みを解決するというストーリー。カウンセリングルームの1シーンで展開されるワンシチュエーションドラマで、うそをついたり、悩みの根本的な部分を隠そうとする患者に対し、了が硬軟織り交ぜた手法で患者の心を救い出していく。また、了自身も心に深い闇を抱えており、患者への治療を通して自分の病気を克服しようとする姿も見どころだ。 患者優先の了に子育ての悩みを相談できず悩む了の妻・香苗役を酒井美紀さんが演じるほか、了が大学時代に理想の女性としてあこがれた深山美姫子役を浅野ゆう子さんが務める。さらに、学園の生徒役で、稲垣さんの事務所の後輩にあたるジャニーズJr．のメンバーも多数出演するという。脚本は、連続ドラマ「こころ」（NHK）や映画「津軽百年食堂」などで知られる青柳祐美子さんが担当する。 稲垣さんは、多くの“後輩”との共演について「同じ共演者として、年上として力になれれば、自分に何か教えられることがあればいいなと思う」とコメント。「いろんな心の葛藤や問題を抱えている人たちがたくさん出てきて、それをどうクリアしていくか、ということが毎回のテーマ。自分と照らし合わせてみていただいてもいいですし、その一方で学園風ドラマでもあったりするので、そのあたりが面白いと思います。いろんな見方ができると思うので、皆さんの称賛を得られるように頑張っていきたい」と意気込んでいる。 「in the Room（仮）」は、13年1月12日から毎週土曜深夜0時50分〜1時20分に放送予定。
